Associate Membership

The Associate membership is geared to artists that have a lot of available work that is top quality and languishing in studio and storage. Associate membership offers online access to selling work on our online storefront(s), as well as participation in one annual associate group show, August of each year. It is primarily an online membership with access to list and sell an unlimited number of works on Fountain Street Gallery’s online storefront. This is a low residency membership and members do not participate in daily operations and decision-making. Applicants must have strong computer skills. Associate membership is capped at twenty members, which limits the number of spaces available in any given year.

Associate Member Prospectus

Associate membership provides access to Fountain Street’s online storefront, the Gallery’s marketing and social media platforms, as well as the added benefit of participating in the annual associate group show, August of each year. The Associate member’s group show is curated and installed by Fountain Street Core members, and is promoted on the Fountain Street Gallery website, social media, and included in our monthly email newsletter to over 2,700 recipients, including art industry professionals. This is a low residency membership and members do not participate in daily operations and decision-making. Applicants must have strong writing and computer skills. Associate membership is capped at twenty members, which limits the number of spaces available in any given year.

This level of membership could be right for you if you have an abundance of available work, particularly larger top quality work languishing in your studio. It is primarily an online membership with access to list and sell an unlimited number of works on Fountain Street Gallery’s online storefront. This membership could also be right if you are not in a position to do the staffing and/or administrative work that the Core membership requires. Associate membership may not be a good fit for you if you don’t have a lot of work to sell right now, or if you have difficulty with spreadsheets and computer work (although you could find someone to help you with this.)

Our Online Storefront

1stdibs.com is a well-respected 3rd party online retailer of fine art and luxury goods that works exclusively with galleries. Our reach is greatly extended with this online platform, which has proven itself to be successful. The beauty of 1stdibs is that buyers see a curated marketplace, because galleries are vetted in advance. 1stdibs does phenomenal marketing (just sign up and see how often you see their ads), and reaches an international clientele that we would never be able to reach on our own.

Eligibility

All artists regardless of age, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender identification, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or disability are encouraged to apply.

• Artist may work in a single medium or embrace multiple mediums. All media are encouraged to apply.

• Fountain Street Gallery encourages work exploring social, cultural, historical, and/or political concepts.

• Artist must be 18 years or older.

Membership Acceptance

Associate members are selected by an application process juried by a committee of Core members. Applications for new Associate members are accepted on a rolling basis, and renew annually in the anniversary month of joining. You must be a paying member during the month of August to participate in the annual associate group show. 

• Applications are accepted online ONLY.

• There is no fee to apply; the application is competitive, and artists are not guaranteed acceptance.

Financial Aid

There is no financial aid available at this time.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER BENEFITS

• Limited to 20 Associate Online Members

• Access to 1stdibs third party online fine art retail website (no limit to the number of works you can list)

• Sales commission of 60/40 (Artist/Gallery)

• Gallery website representation (includes 1 artwork image with link to artist’s 1stdibs landing page)

• Associates are encouraged to participate in the Fountain Street’s monthly Artist News feature highlighting artistic practice outside of Fountain Street activities

• Access to create content for Fountain Street’s blog, “Growing a Gallery”

• Access to participate in Fountain Street’s marketing and social media campaigns (example: Curated Collections)

• 1 yearly group exhibition

  • Associates are guaranteed acceptance

  • Reception is coordinated by the Gallery (associates are asked to contribute refreshments)

  • Gallery creates and distributes a Press Release two-three months before show

  • Gallery designs and prints exhibition postcard

    • The Gallery does not mail postcards

    • 50 Postcards will be available for each associate’s mailing needs

• 1 free artwork submission to all Fountain Street’s juried call-for-art exhibitions

   

ASSOCIATE MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

• $800/yr paid in full on renewal date

  • A one-time commitment fee of $150

• 1 year commitment, renewable annually

• 30 day written notice on termination of membership before renewal date

• Associates may opt to further promote their exhibition through print collateral, display ads, as well as social media, at their own expense. All printed collateral with Fountain Street mentioned represented must be approved by the gallery director.

• Associate artists provide all necessary installation hardware and comprehensive installation guidelines for their work in the Associate Member group show, limited pedestals are available through the gallery.

Associate Member Application Requirements

The application for Associate Membership is online only. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and are juried by a committee of Core members.

• Current CV/Exhibition History (artists who do not have substantial exhibition histories are invited to apply)

• Image list (.pdf or .docx) sheet listing title, media, dimensions, price, and date created for the corresponding images included below.

• 5 jpeg images of artwork created within the past three years. FILES MUST BE LABELED as ArtistLastName_title.jpg
  Upload  JPEG files,  300dpi, 6 in. longest side, max file size 2MB. If submitting 3D pieces, you may upload one additional image.
