I fell in love with photography while I was working toward my Bachelor of Fine Art at Eastern Michigan University in the late 1970s-early 1980s. Back then, I worked with film and was excited to watch images magically appear in a chemical bath. I stayed with film until 2010 when I got my first digital camera, a Nikon D700. Then in 2018, I got my first mirrorless camera, Nikon Z6.

I moved back to Massachusetts in 2013 and wanted to join a group of artists to share ideas. I found Fountain Street when it was located in Framingham and was delighted to work with and learn from other artists. When Fountain Street moved to Boston, I changed my membership from core to associate. I’ve also joined other groups closer to my home, 6 Bridges Gallery in Maynard and Arts Wayland in Wayland.

My photography strives to create a vision that relies on imagination, feelings and memories. Some images are straight photography while others lean heavily into a painterly realm using layers and textures to create a more mystical or symbolic impression. My art has given me the opportunity to examine the world around me and how we each interact with it. When we listen to nature, we can learn her secrets.
