Tell us about the artwork. What makes it unique?

“The work attempts to develop the idea of related identities. How can we perceive ourselves as hybrid individuals by focusing on states of multi-form consciousness, meta-identities and regeneration?”

Tell us about yourself. How did you come to be an artist in video/digital media?

“I'm a pluridisciplinary artist working in the field of performance, poetry and video art whose work investigates post-futurist themes through the development of aesthetic forms related to digital imaginaries.”

“Upside-Down V” by Jean-Michel Rolland

Tell us about the artwork. What makes it unique?

“The treatment of the image is made with a coding software, "Processing", enabling me to manage each pixel individually. The effect has never been seen before.”

Tell us about yourself. How did you come to be an artist in video/digital media?

“As a long time musician and painter, dissatisfied with the difficulty reconciling the practice of those two disciplines, I have devoted myself, since 2010, to digital arts. Thus my two favorite media meet: the sound and the image. Through moving image in different forms (video art, generative art, audiovisual performances, interactive installations), I strive to reveal new realities in the world around me. I ruminate on the notion of temporality and the duality of digital arts: the interplay of the sound and the image.”

“Against Time” by Zeharn Lim

Tell us about the artwork. What makes it unique?

Against Time is a video featuring a suited businessman rushing in an underground train station. Set within a space of transience, multiple shots of the moving figure are spliced together in a continuous sequence and looped. This mode of circular unfolding traps the isolated character in a constant hurrying, perpetually entering and exiting the frame simultaneously, towards an unknown destination. The video serves as a jarring reflection and questioning on the haste and monotony of everyday life.”

About the Artist:

Lim Zeharn (b. 1999) is a Singaporean artist working across kinetic sculpture, video performance, and installation. He employs strategic camera techniques, subversion of familiar objects, and exploits our everyday environments as sources of wonder and absurd humour, questioning the benefits of progress while embracing concepts of idleness and futility. Through his practice, he tries to construct a language that expresses his sentiments about the conditions of modern living which otherwise cannot be conveyed through words. Zeharn's works have been featured in exhibitions and festivals internationally including Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, London, and Singapore.
