A CURATED COLLECTION BY PATTY DEGRANDPRE
Unexpected Relationships
Artists create by looking through their own lens. Their perspectives, ideas, inspiration are unique. Some artists embrace the abstract while others have a more realistic point of view, yet both skillfully recreate what they see around them. Regardless of medium or style, the process of art-making is fluid. The impulse to choose a color, shape, image or subject matter flows and changes direction often resulting in a blend of the unexpected. Cohesion and opposition work together forming visual relationships within one piece.
The artworks selected for this collection have unexpected elements. Curious and eye-popping, they elicit the viewer to look closer. A striking color contrast, a whimsical combination of imagery, or the appealing asymmetry of a sculpture are just a few examples of these unexpected relationships.
