A CURATED COLLECTION BY MARIE CRAIG
In Dad’s Studio
Building and sustaining an art practice can be a challenge under the best of circumstances. Artists often struggle to maintain the momentum they need to continue the difficult work of pushing beyond the straightforward to create new and exciting art. Life circumstances—jobs, families, responsibilities—interrupt and complicate the process. In honor of Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the work of eight artists who also happen to be dads—John Baker, Jim Banks, John Daly, Joseph Fontinha, Bob Grignaffini, Joel Moskowitz and Chris Plunkett. The passion to create has been an integral part of their lives for decades, as they, like so many artists, have found novel ways to carve out time for art-making within their complicated, busy lives.

Craig has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions at Danforth Art, Framingham, COSO, Boston, and BigCi Open Day, Australia. She is the co-founder and director of Fountain Street Gallery in Boston. She works from her studio in Natick, MA.
