Fountain Street Gallery will be closing its doors on March 31, 2024.

Fountain Street Gallery, founded by Cherie Clinton and Marie Craig in 2011, has presented over 200 exhibitions of contemporary work by emerging and mid-career artists. The Gallery first opened in Framingham, MA, and relocated to Boston in 2017. Our Main and Annex Galleries have featured a wide range of media—including painting, drawing, prints, photography, sculpture, installation, time-based and mixed media—primarily by New England artists. The Sidewalk Video Gallery, a 24/7 display of video and other digital media art, has hosted artists from around the world.

Fountain Street is known for its innovative and thoughtfully curated shows as well as its camaraderie and collaborative spirit. We have been a valuable contributor to the vitality of the Boston art scene and were named Best Art Gallery in Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston® 2019. We are filled with gratitude for all of the wonderful artists, art lovers, collectors, friends, and fans who came together over the years to create this remarkable community.

“Everything has a season and a life cycle, and Fountain Street came into being at a particular time and place. The art landscape in Boston has changed considerably in the last decade, with more diverse voices being amplified and celebrated and new platforms created,”says director Marie Craig. “We’ve had a phenomenal run, and now it’s time for the next generation of gallerists to make their mark.”

The final three exhibitions in the gallery will feature work by Fountain Street’s core artists, starting with “Limitless Translations: The Artist as Storyteller,” on view through January 14, 2024. We hope you will stop in to see us between now and the end of March, and share your thoughts, stories, and photos on social media with the hashtag #fountainstreetgallery. Artwork by Fountain Street artists will continue to be available for purchase at 1stDibs.com through December 2024.
